At first this may seem like an odd choice, but to me this song has always had this cool vibe, this otherworldly feel. The first video ever on MTV, it has hints of all the things I love. Sci-fi (the girl in the costume, the antenna on the eyeglasses, the costumes) retro (the radios), cool music and cheesy effects. The fact that it’s a British band, too, gives it a certain feel for those of us in America.
It also has this sad feeling just under the surface. It just seems to fit perfectly with Marooned. And still one of my favorite songs ever. I give you, “Video Killed the Radio Star” by the Buggles.
