In case you haven’t noticed, Hogan is a real nerdboy when it comes to his fellow robots. He’s such a fan, in fact, that he once stole an early blueprint page from the Nanoganics engineers, and he’s carried it around with him ever since. He keeps it in a very secret place. Did you know Marooned has a Facebook page? It’s true! If you haven’t already, it would help me a lot if you would “like” the page (this is different from “liking” a single comic). I hate to ask these things, but this is one of those thing that can really help get the word out about Marooned.
Please “like” the Marooned page here.
(Late in adding this) I also wanted to send out a big THANK YOU to all of you who have continued to comment on the comic over the past couple years. It’s great to get the feedback from you folks. I really appreciate hearing from each and every one of you.
If you’re a reader and you’ve never commented, take a moment and drop a comment in and say hi! (Even if that’s all you say!) I’d love to hear from those of you I don’t know, especially you long-time lurkers… you know who you are!
Also if you missed it from the blog, I put up a 3-page preview of Evasive Maneuvers.

The little incident sparking John’s nightmares happened way back in #59 in Nov. of 08.
The story of Hogan and Lian crashing into Mars is told in the story Payload (drawn by Steve Ogden) in Out of Orbit. It’s not essential to the story that you see those pages (although you are really missing out if you haven’t!) Obviously Lian crashed. In the coming strips, you’ll get some information about how that happened. Stay tuned!
Speaking of which… Monday will be a DOUBLE SIZED update! Bonus!
Thinking of offering Payload as a PDF for like 99 cents or something. If there’s enough interest of people wanting to see it, I’ll do it. You can preview Payload page 1 here.

Elle Dee over at the Storming the Tower blog (a comics review blog) has been blogging about robots in comics all week. The culmination today is a breakdown of robots in webcomics, with a paragraph on what would happen to us all if each robot were to become our robot overlord! Fun stuff.
Even cooler – Asimov is on the list!

“Asimov (Marooned): Captain John’s faithful robot sidekick, Asimov is stranded on Mars thanks to John’s relentless stupidity. If he became our robot overlord: No one with a passing resemblance to William Shatner would ever be allowed in the space program. And robots get to be the captains now. Let humans be the faithful sidekicks for once.”
This is COMPETITION people, and you just KNOW Asimov would love to win this one! Now I’m not gonna tell you who to vote for, but you should head over and cast your vote over at Which Webcomic Robot Should Become Our Robot Overlord?

I got the opportunity to take my family to see Wall-e on opening weekend on Friday. I’m a huge Pixar fan and we always try to go opening night. In fact, Pixar movies are what got me back into being interested in my own artwork. I even began training myself as an animator and did a really small short movie. (See embedded video below).
Ultimately it was going to be way too time consuming to become an animator, especially with a family to support. But I finally made my way back to comics. But I digress…
At Pixar they say “Story is King.” Yes they have wonderful animators and special effects, but it’s truly the stories that make it all shine. I’ve been so busy I haven’t really been following all the Wall-e hype, so I didn’t really know what to expect, which was great.
It really was nothing like I expected. Wall-e is truly an endearing character and the little romance between him and Eve is incredibly touching. I don’t want to give anything away, so go see this gem for yourself. It will be another staple in my movie library for sure.
It seems to me that the animators keep getting better and better, and the special effects keep breaking new ground. And as a fan of well, robots…ahem… the robots in the film were great. Go see it!
Here’s my little short I did a few years ago.
