		<description>Holy cow - very interesting. Not surprising in hindsight that Watterson wouldn't have done it - although I could see it tempting him early in his career. Meddick should be commended though for keeping a strip alive that lost many readers due to the changing cast, and he still is going strong today.</description>

And as an awesome historical sidenote, before Meddick's involvement, United Features wanted Bill Watterson to incorporate Robotman into a lil' strip he was developing with them at the time, Calvin &#38; Hobbes ;-)... to which he declined after some thought, as he just couldn't do someone else's character in his strip. So he declined United Features contract, and resent to Universal Press, who gobbled C&#38;H up and the rest is history. ;-)</description>
