Process: How a Marooned Comic is Made

I’ve watched my share of process videos and always find them interesting, and I usually learn something too. One thing that often bothers me though is most are sped up so it’s hard to see what’s going on. I decided to record some of my own and keep them at real time so you can really see what I’m doing. I chose the “Lian and Lian” strips that really don’t have backgrounds so I could do them a bit quicker. So the videos aren’t too long.

I couldn’t video myself drawing or inking, so the first video is simply a collection of shots of the work in that stage with some commentary. The other videos also have commentary. Note the sound might be a bit low, and on a couple there is some background noise for some reason, I wasn’t able to fix it, but it shouldn’t be too much of a bother. Hope you enjoy!

Note: They should all be in HD size (though not truly HD). If you click through to Vimeo, you can watch full size.

This is the resulting comic in the videos.
