Happy Friday everyone. Today we deal with some specific Marooned business. First, yesterday I received my first copies of the Marooned #1 Comic from Ka-Blam. I think they came out really great. It was cool to do the ashcan, but this was really neat to see my own creation in a “real” comic book form.

As I’ve already said, “Arrival” is available at IndyPlanet, and I’m shipping a few over to my webstore at HeavyInk as well. (The store link will go back there when they get the copies). Either way you’ll get the same comic. Here’s the pics:

Marooned Issue 2

So speaking of the comic, I’m beginning work on issue 2. I’m thinking about doing this one in color instead of black and white, which of course makes it more expensive, but I think makes it a better book. So I’d like to hear your thoughts on that.

Also, there’s the issue with the creator comments. I already polled and asked if you wanted them with the comic or in back, and most of you said with each comic. However, this poses a problem for me. First, as we get into the strips, there’s not as much to say about each strip like there was when I first got going. There may be some pages that don’t have comments.

Second, once the strip gets into story form, which happens in issue 2, I think the comments can be a bit distracting from reading the story. Really, that’s my main concern. And while negative comments about the creator notes have been few, they have been voiced.

I think my compromise is to still do the comments but put them in a special section in the back, inside the Marooned Vault. So you’d still get them, and some bonus development artwork, they’d just be in the back.

So one more time – if I still have them but just put them the back, is that cool with you?

The Dark Ones!

So I’m pretty excited about the big reveal on the Dark Ones. I first began designing these characters before Christmas, so it’s been a long time waiting to get to this point. Not only is it fun to bring in new characters, but they Dark Ones are an integral part of the Martian story as a whole.

Strike that. Going over the writing here, and consulting with my buddy Og, I’m realizing I misspoke a bit. We may not see the Dark Ones next week, but it will be soon We certainly don’t want to rush anything, do we? If things work how I hope though, the big reveal will be on strip 100 – which would be neat. And we’re already on 96 so… not like it’s a long way away!
