Happy Friday one and all. Today’s Friday Fandom begins with a nice piece of fan art I received from Dave from the webcomic “Taking the Bypass.” He did a pretty cool take on John – he looks more sophisticated than ever! Check it out.

Starslip

I had been wanting to reach Kris Straub’s Starslip archive for some time now. I had found it hard trying to jump in to a strip that had been going for a couple years. So within the last week or so I went and read the whole archive, start to finish.

What a fun and humbling experience! The strip is so incredibly well written and thought out – and that knowledge that he has of his characters shines through in the quality of the jokes and stories. And his artwork is deceivingly simple. At first I wasn’t sure what I thought of it. But as I read the strip and paid closer attention, it’s perfect for the strip. He does black and white about as good as anyone. I’m now fully caught up and Starslip is on my regular reading list. I love the characters and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Strip News
The refresh is going well, I’ll be posting another one today. I’m about halfway through the archive. There’s actually been more changes than I initially thought there would be. But I am now better prepared to tell the next story.

As you saw by yesterday’s strip, the guys are now settled at Vita and Asimov has headed back to the ship to grab their remaining supplies. The next story is going to introduce an…. interesting… character from their past. I’ve had a lot of fun creating this character and I’m looking forward to the arrival. If I don’t screw it up, it should be pretty fun.
