NOTE: Regarding depressurization of the hull: recall that when the guys hit the ship, a bubble enveloped them completely as Ugo began to cut the hull. The bubble is still there, and protects from any explosive depressurization happening.
I had meant to put the bluish color of the bubble visible through the opening – I have to go back and do that.
So I was not liking the way I was drawing the electrolaser, and I went back and looked into the archive, and realized I was drawing it wrong. Plus, it’s tricky to draw in certain angles without a reference. So I finally mocked up a reference in Blender (see below) that will allow me to position and draw it better. That leads to point #2 – John actually is right-handed, not left. I have NO idea how I got that confused, but his gun clip has been on the wrong side. So I will need to go back and fix that and the electrolaser.
Now, how fast can Nonga run?

I know the last panel is supposed to be the cliff hanger, but I just love that first one. Ugo makes quite an entrance! Not to be messed with.
I like Ugo’s thumbs up move agreeing that he’s ready for anything. Confidence is a great asset!
Thanks Jim, I really like that one too! @Larry – right on!
My name is Ugo and I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass… and I’m all out of bubblegum.
Not to be a stick in the mud, but shouldn’t the atmosphere inside the ship have explosively decompressed? All the air in that chamber would have vented out once Ugo’s first cut pierced the hull. Ugo (robot) and John (spacesuit) are OK, but Lian’s is going to have some breathing issues when she gets there. Also, the depressurization of a section of the ship should have set off a zillion tell-tales on the bridge. I suspect more than Lian’s little Nonga fan club are on their way.
… that is a curious thought. Though I don’t think Lian’s had issues with air in the past, due to her powers (such as earlier in this story arc, where she stepped out onto the martian surface, and was glowing).
In any case, the hull breach potentially being detected and supposed depressurization would be an issue.
@Mad Scientist – remember the bubble around the guys when the hit the outside of the ship? That’s still there, and protects them from just that. I figured at least someone would mention that. You just can’t see it through the small opening Ugo cut.
But yeah, the bad guys most likely know they are there.
Regarding Lian – AP is correct. If you head back to the beginning where she got lured outside, her power kept her safe both on the surface of Mars and when she got grabbed by the beam.
Something tells me we’re about to see what “improvements” Zed made to the electrolaser. That should either really help or really complicate the situation… probably both.
Ever see that movie Phantasm?
Love the stern look and thumbs up on frame 3!
