Well, Lian isn’t quite as helpless as she seems, eh? I’m hoping this comes across as intended. My girls seemed to get it. I’ve been dreading doing this one because I knew it would be visually difficult to convey. We’ll see what you folks think.

I find it very easy to understand. Keep up the good work! I love this comic.
Awesome! and it conveys well. Can’t wait to see what happens.
I’m much too trusting. I woulda gotten Mars all blown up, like. Sigh.
Optic blasts! Optic blasts!
Nothing says “something’s afoot” like touching some thing’s foot.
Looks great to me. Only thing I’d say was missing is some ‘fightin music’ at the last frame
i admit i have no idea what’s going on here – dumb it down, someone please?
Thanks all, I figured some would get it, some might not.
When Lian touches Voon, she is able to read his mind. Recall she said his device only blocks the outward expression of the stone’s powers. So we see a red flare when she touches him, she’s actually using his powers via the inward express of her power as a battery to read his mind, and then we see the three “visions” rimmed in red – his real desires. And so she calls him out as a liar.
Just got done archive binging, Tom! Excellent, fun, and clever. Can’t wait to see where this arc goes.
Thanks Lo!
Very nice work!
Wow, Voon has a few issues.
Ooooo. Sneaky Lian. Got inside his head. Now can she do some damage while in there?
Well, I did not get that outcome at all when I looked at it.
If Voon has a dormant stone, why is there a glow from the one held in place by the metal mask?
If it is dormant, how can Voon’s hand glow? Ok – it’s because Lian is manipulating it – however if Lian is manipulating Voon’s stone from the inside, does that mean that she could manipulate any one else’s stone if it is activated? Does it then emanate her colour?
But the explaination sure helped me get it after I was looking at the page for a bit.
P{personally, I’d like a bit of monologue, something along the lines of ‘the Listening one told me the stone chooses the wearer, can I use Voon’s stone that has refuse to choose it’s wearer?’
And some transition of red & blue effects on the hand – Red representing Voon and Blue representing Lian. Although, it would help me understand things, there are a lot of primary colours being used here and more colours would just confuse. (I recall being shown that hero’s have primary colours, and villains have muddy or washed out secondary and tertiary colours)
But you don’t need to listen to me, I’m just one of the many hoards of wandering past viewers of your webcomic.
Had to re-read it to figure out what was going on, but after the second time I was good.
Your comments are legit, Thomas. It’s a tricky thing to get across. I do so much telling (too much) I want to *show* want happens. Sometimes it’s okay to have a little ambiguity.
Voon’s stone is not a full mindstone YET. But it is functional and does have some power. Voon’s rig he wears – the helmet and his tail wrap – most likely have something to do with that. He’s a pretty sharp guy for all his craziness.
If you look back, his stone has been glowing on and off all along.
The red color shows you she is manipulating what power he has. It will certainly change color when and if she can use her own powers.
Hope this makes sense.
i appreciate your explanation – thank you! i agree with you, i think it’s good to let readers figure some things out for themselves. some of us might not get it, but that will happen no matter what you do. the people posting at fantasy comic strays have been up in arms arguing with each other what’s going on of late – i’m so glad bc without their arguing i would be far more confused.
Welcome
Love the disembodied eyes! Nice graphic.
You’d think he’d know better than to lie to a telepath.
