Marooned

Just wanted update you all on the progress of the next episode and the plans for the strip going forward. Just to be clear, Marooned isn’t going to turn into a gag strip. I’m just much happier dealing with an ongoing story, and I think that is one of the strengths of Marooned anyway. The self contained strips are fun, and I hope to intersperse some of them within the whole, but the focus will still remain the Big Story.

Speaking of which, I’ve been working up ideas which have been evolving and changing for months for this next story. Yesterday I basically tried to map it out from the start to the end (and didn’t quite make it to the end.) Then I sat down and explained the whole thing to my wife, to see if it made sense. She liked it and said it was “awesome” so that’s a good sign. Because she’s happy to tell me when something stinks, believe me!

However, this next story is, well, LONG. It has a few subplots and involves a lot of characters. It’s going to take me awhile to map it out properly. The way it is right now, I could definitely see it lasting longer than a year. It will be the largest and most ambitious Marooned story to date.

That leaves the question of what do I do for next week, comic wise. I’ve got nothing sneaky left in the bag to show. It’s possible I can get started on the next story if I get far enough along. But if not, I may just take a little break until I’m ready. I hate taking breaks, mostly because I miss doing the comic. But I’ll let you know.

In the meantime, Thursday is another fun self-contained strip starring a character we haven’t seen in a very long time. See you then!
