I’ve been thinking about how I might put together the “Big Book” of Marooned once this story finishes. One problem is that the format switches from 3-panel gag, to the larger double size landscape format to finally the more traditional size I am using today. This makes it a little problematic to really publish them all together and have it all look as good as I’d like.

One solution is simply to rework the strips into the regular page size. I’m not talking about really redrawing anything (except in instances where I simply can’t live with something) but rather re-arranging panels. While doing that, it would make sense to also make the coloring consistent, by fixing John and Asimov (and in some cases, Lian’s) uniforms. It would also give me the opportunity to fix a few things in the story, and even to add a few pages here and there to flesh things out (or to add to the story.)

The truth is, as I got to the more recent double-sized ones, this would become more difficult as I played around more with panel layouts. There are 272 strips that would need to be adjusted. If I say that’s an average of an hour per strip (earlier ones being easier, later not so much) and rounding up for really tough ones, I get nearly 13 full days of rework! Yikes. But in some ways… I’d love to do it – to have that full book.

I don’t know if people would have any interest in that or not. But I played around with the first strip, and here is the result. Click for the full view.

Hmm.. I noticed I forgot to add his patch!
