Now, I’ll be honest with you, this one I wasn’t a big fan of…you know, just the “I love you” parts, because that’s just weird. But other than that, that’s pretty much it of my Cons. But I really like how the Doctor revisits how he can “speak” baby. I’ve always thought how that was cute in the one episode “A good man goes to war.” Also, my absolute favorite scene from this episode is when he makes the stars appear (using his handy-dandy sonic screwdriver) on the baby’s ceiling and is talking to him, I just thought that was beautiful how they arranged that.

And now that Cyber-rat that has those creepy teeth, I was so glad when that didn’t eat the baby. But also, it turns good later, ha ha. “Bitey.” So he takes the rat, right? And finds this whole spaceship through a tunnel in the dressing room. And he just has his “Wow-I-didn’t-know-that-was-underneath-a-women’s-accessory-store” face on. So the Doctor, I think that he’s a really good character; he can get scared sometimes, but most of the time he’s just like “whatever.” And then of course, “lil” Craig wakes up and comes to save the Doctor; everybody thinks that they’re safe with the Doctor! That’s not necessarily true; so then Craig comes and tries to save the doctor, and turns into a Cyberman himself. (Sorry for whoever I spoiled that for.) But then, Alfy to the rescue! And of course, what’s more horrible to hear than the sound of your baby son crying? So out comes Craig of the metal suit, and there you go.

Now, for River Song…journaling about the Doctor’s death… tick tock… goes the clock…

Man, I just KNEW IT! I knew it was her ALL the TIME! I knew it was her, I knew that she was the impossible astronaut, I knew it was her emerging from the lake. I just knew it all the time.

So until next time, let’s see how the Doctor gets out of this one…

PROS

Tom’s Notes

I always love a good Cyberman episode. What I really liked, though, was the continuing exploration of the Doctor and his need for – and fear for – his companions. Here he leaves Amy and Rory behind to keep them from danger, and then immediately ends up seeking out another companion who has nothing less than a new born baby, putting them in danger! He realizes that he really needs someone with him. My guess (and hope) is that this will lead him back to Amy and Rory for the finale, which looks to be great. And that preview made me feel sad for River.

Loved seeing Amy as a successful model with the wonderful slogan for her perfume. Fun stuff!
