Unfortunately, it looks like I won’t be able to deliver on a second comic this week. I had a lot of trouble working out the first panel, and it took way more time than I thought. So most likely Monday – although I won’t rule out posting it over the weekend if you guys want me to if I get it finished.
Anyway, I figured I’d point you toward a couple newer comics that I have been following of late. I’m not 100% sold on either one yet, but they both show some promise.
The first one is Our Intrepid Crew by Riess (the artist) and SquidDNA (the writer). I’m going to assume those aren’t their real names! Anyway, it’s a sci-fi space opera. There’s some pretty cool art, both of ships and places as well as inventive characters. It’s hard to say too much about what the story is about, as it has really just started. It seems the main character, the woman in purple, is fleeing/leaving something, and she is something special. We’ll see if it delivers on its promise. Updates once a week. Here’s a sample page.
The second one I may have mentioned before, would be Plume by Kari Smith. She thoughtfully has posted a summary (in image form, argh!) that goes like this:
Plume is a story set in the old West about a girl named Vesper Grey and her supernatural companion, Corrick. On her quest to discover her father’s life work, they encounter new friends and new foes, and learn that the Wild West really does live up to its name.
Again, the story is just beginning, with Vesper having been just introduced to Corrick. There’s a slight feeling of a romance novel here, which seems to be reflected in the comments a bit from young girls squeeing over Corrick. I’m hoping that will be minimized as the story evolves, because the story does look interesting. The art is quite wonderful, which originally drew me to the comic. The comic seems to update when she has time. Sometimes pages come in chunks, sometimes it’s a week or two. Here’s a sample page:
Check them out, and let me know if you have found any gems recently. Have a great weekend!

If you’re asking us kids if we want to open our present early, then yes, of course we do!
Hehe, yes, that was what I was asking. If and when I finish it on the weekend, I will post it
Thanks for posting about these comics Tom. They look like interesting reads.
Thanks for the tip – ‘Our Intrepid Crew’ is now in my RSS feed right alongside Marooned!
