One thing that has often been a struggle in doing Marooned pages is having enough space for dialog. I’ve always erred on the side of caution with font size, going fairly large. In the beginning, I actually had some strips using the current font (it’s called 10 Cent Comics) at 14 point, which was WAY too big. So I changed it to 12 point a long time ago. I still felt at times that was a little large, so when I moved to the horizontal format a couple years ago, I went with 11 point, which is where we currently stand.
I’m considering moving it down to 10 point, but I want your feedback first. Below are some example pieces for you to consider. In each example, the 11 point text panel is on the top, the 10 point text panel is below. The first picture shows you how it would appear online. The second one shows you how it would probably look if I end up printing the next book in the same 8 x 10 format.
Looking ahead, the ideal situation for the next book is for me to do a Kickstarter campaign and get the funds to print a real proper book, something nice and special. At that point, I may not be limited so much in size and it may not be an issue. But for safety’s sake, it probably should work in the CreateSpace format, as I really do not know if I’ll ever have enough support to get a Kickstarter project funded.
Note these are at screen resolution so if you print them out, they will be fuzzy – keep that in mind. Click the image to see full size. Let me know what you think!
Your comments are welcome as well, please!

The new font is very readable on my laptop, 15 inch, 1280×1024, so I say go for it!
It works just fine online, but seems too small in the print version
I guess online either size is OK, but certainly for print the ten is too small.
I agree with Larry and Chris. It would be okay online, but (for me at least) the printed form would be difficult to read.
Same as others, online looks better than “print”. What sizes do the artists you like use for printed works?
Appreciating the input. Generally one does not change the font size from online to print, since that would involve tons of reworking of files. Frankly, if you took a standard DC or Marvel comic book and looked at it, it would have much smaller text than Marooned. I’m not saying that’s a reason to change it, but just for comparison of something very mainstream.
