Ok, where I am going with this? Promoting a webcomic can be summed up in three words. Too… much… work. Add in all the new social networking services and it’s near impossible to do everything well – or even do everything.

As you know I have a Facebook Page for Marooned. What does it do? Not a whole heck of a lot. I’ve posted a few things on there, but I just really don’t have the time to dedicate to doing something with it.

Plus, it’s a tricky thing. The idea of a FB group is that fans would gather there and it would be a *fan* thing, not a creator blasting stuff back at fans thing. And you have to be careful that you don’t do too much with it and annoy people who have joined the group. But it would be good to have something going on there… I think. Some of this stuff is so new it’s hard to say what exactly is the right way to do anything.

Anyway, my gut feeling is that it would be cool to have one of my fans running the thing. I’d like to give it a try. Of course, there’s a real possibility that nobody is interested in doing this. I guess we’ll find out. So – here’s what I’m looking for…

Requirements

  • Must be 16 or over and have a FB account. I’m looking for someone mature and responsible to handle the job.
  • You must be very familiar with social networking. I’ll want to hear some of your thoughts on it and why or how you think a FB can work for Marooned.
  • You must have the time and the dedication to do this for at least 3 months. I don’t want someone to tell me yes and then give up in 2 weeks.
  • Obviously, you should be a fan of Marooned and be very familiar with the story. Ideally you know the story from the beginning of the Saga of Bob. (And you better know what the Saga of Bob IS).

What’s In It For You?

Not a whole lot! Okay, seriously, this is obviously not a paying job. It’s a “job” for a fan. Having said that, I think there are some things that I can pass along to you, that as a fan, you might appreciate. How about some original art? Free comic books when they come out? A personalized sketch perhaps? I might even clue you in on strips before they post.

How much of all that you get would depend on how good of a job you do and how long you stick around.

The bottom line is I’m looking for someone to come in with some ideas and some creative energy about the project and the strip and help out. In return, as a fan you’ll get some cool Marooned stuff. Where it goes from there, who knows?

If you are interested and think you can fit the bill, please use the contact form and send me a message. Tell me why you think you can do the job and give me a general idea of what you think you might do on the page to make it more fun and worthwhile. Keep in mind that as the FB manager, you have access to me to get materials if you want to post stuff, or ask me specific questions or whatever. Also keep in mind that you’d be running things by me at first, to make sure we’re on the same page.

I’m not guaranteeing I’ll fill the spot. Maybe nobody will step forward, or people will but I won’t think they’re qualified. But I’m hoping someone qualified will want to do it, and it will help make the Marooned universe that much better.
