I’ve been mentioning it the last couple weeks, but if you haven’t seen it already, you can find the Marooned Facebook page here.
Up until now I had neglected it, quite honestly, because I wasn’t exactly sure what to do with it or how to properly utilize it. I think I have some ideas now, and I wanted to share them with you.
The nice thing about the FB page is that I can update it in like 30 seconds. Updating the blog is quick, but not that quick! And of course FB has all the simple ways to interact with the content or other fans that you could want.
So my plan going forward is to us the FB page to post little tidbits, updates, and previews that don’t necessarily warrant a full blog post. So in the last week I’ve posted a preview panel to an upcoming comic as well as a preview for a piece of guest art for the book. I added the Asimov plush pics, too. Those things are easy to do, and hopefully, interesting to you readers.
Also, forgot to mention – there’s a discussion board there, too (with a couple questions already). I don’t think Marooned is ready for a full-fledged forum, but the discussion board is a good place for a little talk about the strip.
If there’s anything else you’d like to see posted there, just let me know.
I hope this pushes for the FB page don’t come off as annoying. I know I can get annoyed with the constant barrage of “Facebook this” and “Twitter that.” It becomes a bit much. I guess the thing you have to understand is that as a content creator, I have to try and take advantage of these tools to try and grow the comic. I know other comic artists understand that, I just hope you “regular” readers do, too!
And last plea for awhile about the page, PLEASE go to the page and “like” it if you haven’t already. The reason this helps me out so much is that Marooned posts will show up in your activity feed, and that means Marooned gets exposed to people who might never see it. That’s extremely helpful to me. Now I totally understand if you don’t want that, but if you don’t mind, it’s a great way to support the strip.
As usual, thank you so much for reading, and have a great weekend!
