Just a quick note to let you know I’ll be printing the Ashcan this week for sure. Possibly as soon as tomorrow night, so they *may* be available on Friday – we’ll see.
I’ve decided for the first edition that I will do a *small* little character sketch in each one and sign it. I just have to rearrange the inside cover to give me a little section to draw it on.
If you haven’t already told me in the poll that you are planning on getting one, please head over there and let me know. I’ll be printing up a few more than the number on that poll, but most of the extras will go to friends or out to a couple places for promotional reasons.
So if you want to be sure you get one that’s a first print, make yourself heard!
By the way, we’ve “officially” embarked upon the second story of Marooned, which began with John getting sick. I’m excited to finally get going on this, it’s been well over a month in the planning stages.

So where did you decide to print the Ashcans? Was it the Kinko’s or a local copy shop or somewhere else entirely?
Turns out Fed Ex Kinko’s/Office had the best deal – go figure. And they actually are really efficient over there (at least the girl I deal with).
How bizarre, but actually I’ve been in a few FedEx/Kinkos and they do have modern clean well functioning equipment. I just wouldn’t have figured them to be the cheapest.
Does your town even have local printers left?
Surprised me too. And I’ve had bad luck with them in the past. Maybe the FedEx ownership has been good for them. Yeah we have local printers. I got a quote and it was *way* more (and I had worked with them before, too).
Most local printers seemingly don’t have the right type of equipment. I mean I could probably find one but I’m not sure it’s worth all the effort, for what might not be a savings at all – or just a few nickels.
Plus, they are literally 5 minutes from my house. There’s a lot to be said for convenience and saving time too.
*excited* You have done a really good job with these Ashcans and I’m looking forward to getting my hands on one.
Thanks Stormy – And can I just say, I’m excited that YOU’RE excited!
