About Marooned
About Marooned
Captain John is a space pilot who is bloated with self-importance. Asimov is a highly intelligent robot who doesn’t get along very well with space pilots bloated with self-importance. So naturally, these two were put together, placed in a small, cramped rocket and sent to Mars.
And now they’re stuck there.
If it weren’t for the kindness of Ugo, a friendly green one-eyed Martian, Captain John would have perished. However shortly after having his life saved, Captain John must confront an renegade crazy robot, a space sickness, more mysterious Martians, underground battles, and the reappearance of the most unlikely person of all.
John also learns of the time-traveling mishap that doomed Mars and drove the last remnant of Martians underground forever.
Meanwhile, a ship is about to land… and it’s not from Earth.
The Characters
Captain John
Wearing his ego as protection against his insecurities, John acts and speaks too quickly and often only thinks of himself. But under the shell of a selfish man is the makings of a truly great captain.
Asimov
A robot sporting a highly advanced brain developed by Nanoganics, Inc., Asimov is the pinnacle of robot technology. He has little use for John’s failings, but is a faithful companion when it’s crunch time.
Ugo the Martian
Ever friendly and happy, Ugo befriended John and Asimov shortly after they landed, bringing them to safety at Vita, an underground Martian city. There’s more to Ugo than meets the eye.
Ril the Martian Orphan
Ril is a sassy, young orphan girl. An orphan himself, John took a chance and befriended Ril. Ever since then, Ril constantly tries to follow John and Asimov wherever they go.
Lian Fisher
Lian Fisher was presumed dead over a decade before Captain John landed on Mars. Rescued by the Volotrum, she became “The Listener” when a Mindstone embedded itself in her forehead. She later masters the mindstone, become a “Hearing One.”
The Geborga
Scientists of great skill, the Geborga’s attempt to save Mars with a time travel experiment failed, leading to the near destruction of all Martian life. They now practice their science hoping to atone for their great mistake.
The Volotrum (The “Dark Ones”)
Dwelling deep in the caverns of Mars, these lumbering tripods always kept away from the other Martian races. Ruled by the “Hearing One” who wields a Mindstone, they generally keep to themselves.
Atha
A female Martian of the Anfald race, Atha is a healer and counselor to Ugo. Atha acts as a caregiver to the orphan Ril.
Bob the Robot
Bob is a Nanoganics Series 7 Robot – the top of the line just like Asimov. Obnoxious, violent and angry, he wielded “The Time Cube” – a device that closely resembled a Rubik’s Cube. His plans were thwarted and his disabled chassis was taken into custody by the Geborga.
