John is the Rodney Dangerfield of Astronauts.
Previously on Marooned…
This story began with Captain John getting sick. Ugo is taking John back to the Martian haven while Ril and Asimov are contacting Earth mission control to let them know that they are stranded on Mars.
Ugo first appeared shortly after John and Asimov landed. Ril first appeared in the Martian haven “Vita.”

Poor guy gets no respect! *fiddles with tie*
good comic. I guess Asimov was right. Just one question: what’s with the title?
ah, the irony!
LOL!
Cool. Do we get to see any more of earth? Sorry if that’s an annoying question, it’s just that my nerd senses are tingling.
Hehe, nerd senses, I love it.
For the foreseeable future, most likely not. I can imagine quite a few instances where Earth could show up, but it’s not in any near term plans I have. To be honest, this one came up based on the situation and I thought it worked to show it this one time.
However there is one more strip that takes place on Earth – it’s the bonus strip in the Ashcan
Right now however, we have this problem with John being sick, which is going to lead to a lot of interesting things here on Mars.
And the response that Asimov is going to get from Mission Control on Thursday is going to be very interesting.
@Doug – title – just what came to mind. Titles are pretty meaningless most of the time. I just have em to know what strip is what.
I haven’t combed through the entire archive yet (it occurs to me I should since there are still less than a hundred strips) but is this the first time we’ve seen Earth?
Yes, it is in fact the first time we have seen Earth. Strip #1 begins with the guys landing.
Of course there is one other place with a strip occurring on Earth – that would be in the Ashcan #1
I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents–the bonus strip on Earth from your ashcan has some really nice artwork.
Thanks Tony, I enjoyed doing that one.
John will be happy to know they’re still as stupid on Earth as when he left.
Kudos on using the word “stranded” instead of “marooned”. (hope its alright I changed my comments name)
Sure it’s okay Doc!
– No matter what your comment moniker is, you always catch the details man
You should seriously consider doing a newspaper syndicated comic of some sort. Doesn’t have to be “Marooned” but you’re getting that very newspapery style with the shading lines.
Plus: It’d be so awesome to see your name in my paper. You don’t get much better than “Dell’Aringa”, imo.
Wow! I just noticed that I’m only a few comics ahead of you! *brags until someone shoots him.*
Sorry, couldn’t resist when I noticed.
Thanks for the compliments Doug. Marooned is what I love though, and it’s not really newspaper material. And that’s okay by me.
