Happy Memorial Day! I’m currently in Elkhart, Indiana doing an inline half-marathon. Hope you’re enjoying your holiday. So here we have ASIMOV beginning his story, and lo and behold we get his origin! A lowly trash collector. I wonder how he got to be the sophisticated machine he is now?

I just finished upgrading to Comic Press 2.5, I believe the odd navigation problems are now solved. Let’s hear it for Tyler. Some of my styles are not quite right, but I wanted to get the fix in as soon as possible. I’ll finish tweaking the design over the next week or so, but the main thing is the site should work much better and be organized much better.
Ah, so this is what ASIMOV had in mind. I wonder what he has to say? Although my official update day is Monday, I think I will often post sometime on Sunday to make things easier on myself, since I get up pretty early to work out and get to work. Be sure to check out the contest to find out how you can win a piece of original artwork from the strip.
NOTE: I’ve had more than a few people e-mail and ask about getting the 3d file for this model. Right now it’s buried somewhere on a CD in storage. I have no idea if and when I’ll have time to dig it out. Even if I do, it’s not a polygon model – it’s a spline model. That means unless you are using Hash Animation:Master, you’re out of luck. So I suggest if you really want a Mach 5 3d model – you make one!
Well, I was a huge Speed Racer geek when I was a kid, so I’m really looking forward to the movie tomorrow. I’ve already purchased myself a little Mach 5 toy that I’ve been zooming around my desk in anticipation. So to celebrate the movie, here’s a 3D model of the Mach 5 I did a few years ago in Hash Animation:Master while I was learning the software. They ended up putting on their demo CD and I even got a free jacket out of it. I only wish it were in my garage!
Edit: Found a bunch of renders of the Mach 5 in 3D in various states of progress, including a final one done with some “show models†by a John B. where he took my model and mixed it with his girls. I’ve added those as well.

My wife and I went to see Iron Man yesterday afternoon. Since I was a big Iron Man fan as a kid, I was really looking forward to the movie. I think this might be Marvel Studios best work yet, it was a fantastic movie and Robert Downey Jr. is incredible in the role of Tony Stark. It’s certainly as good as the first Spider Man, which is my other favorite Marvel hero.
Anyway, as an homage to Iron Man, Captain John decided to don a tribute suit and take flight. I had lots of fun doing this one.

Eben07.com has posted a review of Marooned. I think they are actually spot-on and did a great job. Thanks guys.
I did another playing card today, this time using Ugo as the Joker card. I like it better than the King card myself.
