Moon Town Wins Best New Webcomic!

Great news for my buddy and Wishtales partner Steve Ogden. You all know his great Moon Town comic, well he took Best New Webcomic in the The Webcomic List Awards 2009. Way to go Steve!

Previously on Marooned…

While attempting to send a message to Earth, John fell ill. Ugo brought him to the Volotrum (also called The Dark Ones), his only remaining chance to be healed. The Listener, an apprentice of the Dark Ones – a human woman named Lian Fisher who crashed on Mars years ago – agreed to heal John. In doing so, she fell into some kind of coma – but returned in the nick of time with miraculous powers to help defeat the lizard-like Krosa. In the battle, Ugo’s wounds have revealed him as some kind of robot or machine, making Captain John more confused than ever!

Nice. VERY nice. This put a smile on my face – both the three-panel punchline, and the great reveal.

  2. Mike M

Funny stuff. Can’t go wrong with a good B.O. joke. : ) Like John’s take on Dark One nomenclature in panel three. So now we get to meet “The Doctor?”

  3. Major Tom

    Thanks Paul!

Yeah Mike, and that suit has to be pretty nasty right now! Do we meet him? Dunno, you’ll just have to wait and see :)

  4. Og

    “She-who-didn’t-thank-me” makes me laugh. *snort*

And don’t look now, but here comes some backstory, folks. Strap in.

  5. Major Tom

I giggled a bit myself on that one :) It’s just so John. Yes indeed – here it comes. This will probably be some of the most challenging stuff I’ve done so far, but I’m looking forward to spilling some of this stuff that has been in my brain for two years!

  6. Tony

Nice comic strip on many different levels!

  7. Splox5

    Was?

  8. Major Tom

    Thanks, Tony.

    @Splox – yes, was.

  9. Chris

Great lines in this strip. B.O. jokes always work. I almost misread Ugofandian as Gandalf for some reason, lol.

  10. Major Tom

Maybe he has the Gandalf “mystique?” :)

  11. Chris

I was just reading a fantasy oriented comic so I think my head was just in the fantasy realm, then switched over to Sci-fi and those f’s and d’s and g’s just sort of unconsciously merged into Gandalf.

  12. Ladyfox

Lemme guess… “Ugofandian” means “The Doctor” in ancient Martian?

  13. Chris

fan dian, means restaurant in Chinese, but somehow I can’t see the doctor also being a restaurant owner.

  14. Major Tom

LOL Chris. Definitely not. His name has no special meaning that I can recall. It’s just a Martian name.

  15. Nixon

i bet that doctor is in plastic surgery …and he’S so great cuz the marsface gots a perfect nose tho being of impressive size…
I love the ‘Stop! Be nice.’ – panel :)

  16. Major Tom

You guys crack me up. I don’t know how many people read these comments (or follow up) but for those of you who have been around awhile, you’ve already seen the doctor.

  17. Nixon

ah you mean THAT Doctor Ugofandian :D
clicking back thruogh time was cool i forgot about lots of the gags from back then *thumbsup’*

  18. noone

YES! the story of Ugo begins

  19. Ladyfox

“You’ve already seen the Doctor.”… A-HA! Time for another run through the archives, then! :D (Yeah, twist my arm a little harder there…) :P

  20. Major Tom

    @Nixon – thanks!

Glad you guys are geared up for it. Yes Ladyfox, now might be a time to look for some clues :) There’s a few clues and lots of unanswered questions in there.

  21. Lady Amber
