Previously on Marooned…
While attempting to send a message to Earth, John fell ill. Ugo brought him to the Volotrum (also called The Dark Ones), his only remaining chance to be healed. The Listener, an apprentice of the Dark Ones – a human woman named Lian Fisher who crashed on Mars years ago – agreed to heal John. In doing so, she fell into some kind of coma – but returned in the nick of time with miraculous powers to help defeat the lizard-like Krosa. In the battle, Ugo’s wounds have revealed him as some kind of robot or machine, making Captain John more confused than ever!

The current storyline starts right here, or you can read from the beginning. Be sure to check out the about page, which explains the story and the main characters.

Ugo has a great look of innocence in the last frame. I guess it must be challenging to provide such great facial expressions when only one eye is available.
It looks like our time with the Hearing One’s is coming to an end now that the battle is over with and the Krosa have been beat back for a bit. I guess now John can think about getting off planet or maybe becoming a Hearing One himself maybe?
Looks really good. I noticed you picked up on HAI’s rock technique like you said you were going to . Adds a lot to the feel of the comic. Keep it up . . .
Everyone looks great in this one, but I think I like Ugo the best.
It is very challenging to draw a one-eyed character, and I’m still feeling my way around it nearly 2 years later. It’s a process.
Yep, HAI gave me a little tutorial and I was able to manage the rocks. Finally, I have some rocks I’m happy with. I think it really adds to the look. I’m still working on some other new techniques that I don’t quite have yet.
I’m still not happy with Lian. I’ve been studying various ways to construct the head and face, and I’ll keep working on it until it’s right. I still have a long way to go.
I flipped back and forth between earlier strips and this one to compare the rock drawings. What a difference! The new technique adds real depth to the panels. Also, are the “Dark Ones” the same size as earlier? The seem more “human” sized…
The Dark Ones have wavered a bit in size. They are probably just a bit smaller than in a couple other places. Chalk it up to my inconsistency, probably.
I just figured that the fight “took a lot out of them”… heh-heh.
LOL! *rimshot*
My semi-deaf great aunt used to say, “I AM Listening, I just can’t hear you!” No mindstones there.
Yeah, Ugo! Whaddupwitdat?
“Whaddupwitdat” is a word on the East Coast!
Well, obviously he’s a cyborg.
My favorite part. The fight is over and now they have to deal with each other’s secrets.
Me too – getting into the nitty gritty of the story is fun for me. Battles are fun too, but I like to get under the hood.
